“Being a student – volunteering works for me”

Written by Natalie Fay, 20.

Events volunteered include: Creamfields, V Festival and BST Hyde Park.

I have been volunteering for a few years now and each time it exceeds my expectations.

Join the Festaff family.

Over the years I’ve got to know the Festaff team and it feels like a big family. It’s so nice to see familiar faces each year and to meet new people. I’ve met and made so many friends along the way who share a common interest and love of music.

Being a student – volunteering works for me.

Being at Uni and the circumstances of being a student, it is hard to be able to go to the wide spread of festivals across summer. By volunteering you get the best of both worlds. When I say ‘work’, it honestly doesn't feel like a chore, it’s that excitement of interacting with new people, bringing a smile, and looking forward to the acts you are going to see with friends. Depending on my shifts I could work through the day and have the whole evening off to see a line-up of incredible acts with friends and new work colleagues.

Volunteering has helped build my confidence.

It has built my confidence in applying to different festivals both alone and with friends, making memories for life. For me, I return to volunteering each summer as my first point of call for summer plans.

Easy to apply.

With it being so easy to apply with the click of a button, it’s a date to secure and look forward to. Festaff has made me feel so welcome and allowed me to be myself and express my personality whilst working and I couldn't think of any other way I would want to spend my festival experiences. I couldn't recommend it enough.
