Festaff Job Fact Sheet

Our staff need to be 18 years of age, or over, and have....

·         A friendly manner.

·         An ability to deal with the public in a polite and helpful manner.

·         Maturity, honesty, and reliability.

·         The capacity to be on their feet for much of the day.

·         Be prepared to work to a good standard where and when required.

·         Be a team player.

Working Requirements.

·         You are required to work the minimum of two 8 hour shifts or 16 hours per event for your event ticket package. See individual jobs at event for exact hours for ticket.

·         You must be 18 years of age or over.

·         You must reside within the staff campsite at the event.

·         You need to work where and when required on site.

·         You must not leave your post until told to do so by your supervisor.

·         You must arrive at the event during the time window given and use directions given to access the site correctly.

·         You need to achieve a good standard in your given role.

·         You must turn up for your shift:

1.      On time

2.      In a good state of health.

Those who do not achieve a good standard or fail to turn up for a shift will have their payment denied, you may be removed from site and any future offers of employment will be withdrawn.

If you are ill or need to leave you post for any reason then clear it with your supervisor.

Travel

You must provide and pay for your own travel to and from the event.

What to Bring

·         Tent – in good condition will all components.

·         Attire for all weather types – wellies, shorts, waterproof jacket, sturdy working footwear, warm top, hat, sunblock etc.

·         Food – You may want to bring food with you as food on site can be a little pricey.

·         A torch.

·         Toilet roll

·         Sufficient money.

·         Bin liner for rubbish

·         Photo ID – (Full Driving License, Passport are preferable, please contact Festaff in good time to agree another form of ID if you do not possess either)

What not to bring

·         Any items of value.

·         Glass of any kind. Any items of glass will be confiscated when arriving on site as glass on site is very dangerous for the many humans at the festival it is also very unhealthy for the livestock that occupy the land for the other 50 weeks of the year.

·         Naked flames – or method to create camp fires etc.

·         Gas Stoves – of any size.

·         Gazebos. There is no room for these in secure camping.

·         Pets/animals.

·         Excessive alcohol.

·         A bad attitude – will not be tolerated

Facilities on site

  • Running Water
  • Toilets
  • Showers (at most events)
  • Path Lighting
  • Parking (Cars/vehicles will be removed from site if parked incorrectly)

Festaff takes no responsibility for any vehicles or personal belongings lost/stolen/damaged on site.

Staff Meeting

At every event there will be an 8pm (TBC on site) staff meeting in or around the campsite production area the evening prior to gates. It is your responsibility to get to this meeting in good time. If you fail to be present at this meeting then we cannot guarantee your employment at that event.

If you turn up for this meeting under the influence you will be sent home as this meeting is an essential part of your job on site.

Uniform

You will be provided with any elements of uniform you are required to wear whilst working on site. This will generally be a hi-vis vest, with maybe one other item.

( Please note this does not include, footwear, jackets, waterproofs, sunhat etc – these you must provide yourself)
If any element of your uniform is not returned, or is returned in poor condition your bond will be withheld and a fee will may be charged from your wage.

Camping

You must provide all your own camping equipment – please check this before you leave home.

You will be provided with an area to camp within a secure staff campsite. This is so all staff are within one area and are easier to contact/manage. It is also a great way to meet and socialise with your fellow team members.

You may not camp within the public campsite as this area is provided for paying customers only.

Please bear in mind this area is for staff from all over the festival. These people maybe on differing shifts from you so please have respect for their need for rest.

Vehicles.

You must park your vehicle where and when told once on site.

Festaff takes no responsibility for any vehicles or personal belongings lost/stolen/damaged on site.

Pay

Casual wages will be issued on the last afternoon of the event where possible.

You will be informed at the staff meeting what time/date you can pick up your wages. If you fail to pick up your wages/bond within the given timeframe you may have to wait sometime to receive any money owed – so pick up your wages on site to save any hold ups!!

Any wages over £102 per week, or £442 per month will be paid at later date.

Tax

You will be required to fill and the relevant tax form for your situation whether that be P46/P45/P38. Tax will then be deducted from your pay accordingly. You will also sign a declaration to say the info you have supplied us with is correct.

NI

You must supply us with a National Insurance number. It is your responsibility to make sure you are legal to work.

Misconduct

Festaff operates the three step statutory discipline and dismissal procedure.

Gross misconduct

If an employee commits an extremely serious disciplinary offence the company may dismiss them without prior warnings and without notice.

Some examples of offences which constitute gross misconduct are:

·         dishonesty, theft or fraud

·         malicious damage

·         fighting, assault on another person

·         serious incapability through alcohol or illegal drugs

·         actions which endanger employees' safety

·         a serious act of insubordination.

·         disruptive in the workplace.

This list is not exhaustive.

Supervisors

·         We are always looking to promote people within our ranks.

·         We all started off wristbanding or stewarding.

·         What we look for in our supervisors:

·         Maturity, honesty, enthusiasm and reliability.

·         Ability to deal with staff and public in a fair and calm manner.

·         Good Communication skills.

·         Length of service available

.......talk to existing supervisors on site about their role.

Rules'n'regulations on site.

Basically the same rules that govern the paying customer govern you. There are no Get Out of Jail Free cards just because you are staff at the event. Use common sense at all times and you wont go far wrong.

Bottom Line

Everybody does the simple tasks that are asked of them, sticks to the hours they are given, turns up for their shifts on time and in good condition, follows the campsite/event rules, then everybody will be delighted with you and you will be welcomed back next year.
